It’s that time of year! The weather is warming up and everyone wants to go outside to get some sun. Not only do people want to get some sun, but they want to start to fire up the grill. There is nothing like the smell of grilled meat barbecuing on a hot day.

Just as you can’t wait to get that grill out, your kids can’t wait to do the exact same thing as you. Of course they can’t really help with the grilling but that’s where the Little Tikes Backyard Barbecue™ Get Out ‘n’ Grill comes into play. I got this for my kids in the Spring. Let’s see what my kids can cook up with it.

Parts and Construction

When I got the box, I thought the unit would be already built. I was wrong – Assembly Required. This was a pretty standard build for a plastic Little Tikes toy though. It’s not a huge toy at all. It’s a kid’s version of a standard sized grill so it’s actually smaller than you think.

Set aside about 20-30 minutes to put this together. The instructions say you need safety glasses, a hammer, and a screwdriver. All you really is a screwdriver. Make sure you open all the packages of parts first to make sure everything thing you need is here. I initially thought they shorted me of some screws for the doors. It was in a completely separate parts bag than the other screws so make sure you take note of that.

After you get everything in order, construction should go smoothly. There are only about some 10 steps to construct the Little Tikes Backyard Barbecue™ Get Out ‘n’ Grill. Screw everything in and insert certain parts and you are ready to go.

How it Plays

If your kids like to imagine they are cooking and being outside, then this toy is for you. My kids also have a play kitchen they enjoy playing with so naturally they would enjoy this.

The Little Tikes Backyard Barbecue™ Get Out ‘n’ Grill comes with play food and two cooking utensils. The food consists of a hotdog, a hamburger, and a ketchup bottle. If your kids are really into imaginative cooking, I would recommend getting another toy food pack that has more food variety.

My kids had some fun play grilling. That being said, this is not a toy that they use for long. It is more of a situational toy that they might use when trying to mimic a parent or when they are playing house and incorporating other toys in their play. Initially, I got about 20-30 minutes of solid play with the Little Tikes Backyard Barbecue™ Get Out ‘n’ Grill. They moved on after that pretty fast.

Since the Little Tikes Backyard Barbecue™ Get Out ‘n’ Grill is small and not oddly shaped, it’s actually not too hard to find a spot to store this unit. It’s smaller than a ride on and has a pretty standard rectangular shape. This makes it easy to either fit in a garage corner or somewhere in the backyard or on the deck.
The Little Tikes Backyard Barbecue™ Get Out ‘n’ Grill also has doors on the front of it. These open the storage space which allows you to put all the accessories that goes with it. There is a bunch of space inside for a lot of other accessories too.

This is a solid toy. There are not too many frills or incredible features but it gets the job done as a pretend barbecue grill. If your kids have a crazy imagination, they can imagine they are grilling anything their mind let’s them create. Plus, the Little Tikes Backyard Barbecue™ Get Out ‘n’ Grill has a good price point. To me, that’s a win in my book.
