I’ve seen many toys out there but this learning puppy from Fisher-Price is one toy I have seen many other kids have. So, we got one for our kids as well. Well really, we got an Fisher-Price Laugh & Learn Smart Stages Puppy when our oldest was still in diapers. Our next child naturally inherited it after our oldest grew up a bit.
The Fisher-Price Laugh & Learn Smart Stages Puppy is unique among other stuffed animals because it has visual and audio features on it that your child can play with and teach your child at the same time. Each of the Fisher-Price Laugh & Learn Smart Stages Puppy’s limbs have buttons and a word indicating their place on the body. Let’s take a look at exactly how this works.

The Fisher-Price Laugh & Learn Smart Stages Puppy needs 2 AA batteries to get started. Thankfully these are included. They are the cheap batteries of course but at least it’s something. If you decide to change the batteries for a fresh pair, the battery compartment is in the back and will take a small screwdriver to open.
We had the puppy for a while before we realized it was on demo mode. The music that would play would be cut short after a button was pressed. The setting is on the same panel that you changed the batteries on.

The songs and audio play much longer once it’s out of demo mode. So if it seems like the songs cut too soon, check that setting.

Treat this as a normal stuffed animal. I would recommend that you turn off or lower the volume before you put the puppy away in a toy box. Since there are plenty sound buttons on the outside of the Fisher-Price Laugh & Learn Smart Stages Puppy, there is a good chance they might be pressed in a toy box of some kind.
Other than that, it’s pretty average in terms of storage – if you get it out of your child’s hands. There is a good chance your kid will be sleeping with the puppy so you might never need to put it away.
